Do you ever have a hard time answering the question, "So what do you do as a WAHM?" When I first started out, I found this question to be challenging especially explaining to those who do not fully understand what it truly means to be a WAHM. How have you felt about responding to others about being a WAHM and has this changed over time for you?

That is always a hard question for me. I'm still trying to find a simple answer people "get"... but over all I find a lot of people are just baffled by the whole working at home thing.

I'm reading Carrie Wilkerson's book, Barefoot Executive and she goes into how they just won't get it ;) So surround yourself with people that do (aka LaunchingMoms!)

Sarah, I am going to have to get that book. Maybe Ill read it on my very long plane ride to Maui! {Can't wait!!}

Hmmm. Still giving different answers to different people, because different people have different perceptions about me being a WAHM. I know what it means to ME, but others seem to think that working from home means you're the level below a "lady who lunches."

Martine, I agree. Somehow the perception of working at home is that it is somehow a less important position than if we were in a cubicle or an office outside of the home– which is far from the truth.

So right Corine!
Let 'em talk... we just go on and do our thing!

True that!

At a meeting the other day, I had someone ask me: "So, OK, you're just blogging and doing Twitter the whole day? How is THAT work?"

I said, "Well, it IS work. Aren't I lucky?" :)
